Comic Artist Gil Kane Dies in Florida

(Reuters) - Comic book artist Gil Kane, whose sketches of the Green Lantern, the Incredible Hulk and other superheroes brought power and motion to the pulp pages, has died of complications from cancer at age 74, DC Comics said on Wednesday.?Kane died Sunday at his home in Aventura, Florida, near Miami.?He illustrated Green Lantern, The Atom and The Ring of the Niebelung for DC Comics and sketched for many other series, including The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man for Marvel Comics, stories in Heavy Metal magazine, and early graphic novels.?Born in 1926, Kane and his family moved from their native Latvia to New York City when Kane was three.?Described by DC Comics as "an artistic prodigy by the time he reached his late teens," Kane's drawing style was dynamic and imbued the characters with power and motion.
