Jacques is the owner of House of Oysters, a bar located in downtown New York. He had just recovered from his fifth heart attack when he meets Lucas, a young homeless man who has given himself up on life. Having certain things in common, Jacques decides to take Lucas in and to train him to be a bar tender. At the same time, he aims at letting Lucas take over his bar after he dies, in order to preserve his legacy. But training is just one issue, as there a many rules that Jacques needs to put into Lucas's mind, like no fraternizing with customers, and no women in the bar.
