Washington (Reuters)-The 7 largest US movie studios filed lawsuits Friday to prevent several websites from distributing a program that could allow copying of DVD movies.?These lawsuits followed a broader lawsuit filed last month in CA by a DVD equipment manufacturers group.?Many users and programmers claim the software's goal was to allow Linux users to watch DVDs on their systems, rather than copying the DVDs.?Internet advocacy groups have opposed the lawsuits, arguing that the posting of computer codes is a form of free speech protected by the First Amendment.?Read more ...
