Losing sleep over the red ring of dead?

If you have faced the red ring of dead chances are that you are pretty worried about it right now. You Xbox 360 cost a fancy bit of your hard earned money and it is not a good feeling to possibly see all that running down the drain. Hence, if you lose sleep over the red ring of dead, it is a perfectly natural reaction.

Unfortunately for the consumers, the reliability of the Xbox 360 is fragile at best. You may face small and annoying errors all the time but things really get out of hand once you receive the red ring of dead. The red ring of dead is signified by one, two or three red lights around the power button on your console generally means that your console has encountered a major error and won't start.

When your console dies on you in this way, the options left before you are generally few. If you have enough cash in hand, you can just trash your console and get a new one. Alternatively, for mere mortals, you can get your red ring of dead fixed by Microsoft service, obviously for a fee. Actually there are four types, ranging from one red light around the console to 4 lights. The 4 light red ring of dead is not a critical error in that it just means that your AV cable is either loose or needs replacement.

The most feared and notorious red ring of dead is the one with 3 rings. It generally signifies a major hardware failure and more often than not, is supposed to result in a completely dead console.

One or two red lights also signify critical errors but if you get such a red ring of dead, you do not need to worry that much. Such red ring of dead generally occurs due to problems such as a faulty power supply, loose wires, overheating and the like. Hence if you get one red ring of dead or two, easy remedies can be figured out to solve them.
