Xbox freezes or seems to lock up? Here's what you can do

When your xbox freezes or locks up, certain factors must be considered before you can deal with it appropriately. The technique here is to isolate the cause of the problem so that you can quickly resolve the freezing issue.

The first and simplest thing to do is turn off your xbox console and turn it back on after a few seconds. If it seems to go back to its normal state, then chances are the problem is already solved and may not occur again soon. But if it does after every few minutes or hours of playing, check if there's any overheating problem.

If turning it off and on again doesn't do the trick and if you suspect it's an overheating issue, then try moving your game console to another place with better ventilation. Keep it away from heat generating sources as well like monitors, television and other devices.

Another possible cause of the problem lies in the accessories. Remove all accessories including xbox hard disk, then try to start it back again. Your online connection is another possible culprit, specially if you experience xbox freezes when you go online.
