Different techniques of fixing Xbox360 DVD disc tray

There are different types of DVD drives available for Xbox360 and the technique to solve open tray errors is not same for all of them. If this kind of error occurs, first of all try to open the DVD disc tray by unplugging the power cord and putting it back again after a few minutes. Then when you switch on the Xbox360, the tray might open.

If the DVD disc tray still remains stuck then open the faceplate of your Xbox360 console. You can use a straightened paper clip for this operation. After removing the faceplate you will find two small holes right at the bottom of the DVD drive and another whole at the right side.

If you have a Samsung drive, insert the paper clip in the hole which is at the right side of the drive. When you hit the gear with the clip, push the gear from left to right. This should open up the DVD disc tray.

For Hitachi drive you will find the gear in the first hole left side of the drive. In case of Hitachi drive, you might need to put more pressure over the gear to get it moved. When it is finally moved, the DVD disc tray will get ejected.
