Maine Pyar Kiya tells of a story of Suman, daughter to widower Karan, a poor engineer who plans to work abroad. He makes a request to friend Kishan, a rich businessman, to allow Suman to stay with his family. Suman later became friend with Prem, Kishan's son. What was at first shared as platonic friends later blossom into a love story as Prem sets out to win Suman's heart. When his father Kishan learns about it, Suman was sent home in disgrace.
