Disney makes excuses for Prince Caspian's failure

While speaking at a conference Wednesday in New York, Disney CEO Bob Iger blamed the poor box office performance of "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" on the film's competition, specifically blockbusters like "Iron Man" and "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull."

Though "Prince Caspian" has managed to gross $151 million internationally so far, it's unlikely that it will end up anywhere close to the mind-blowing $744.8 million made by "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."

"Prince Caspian" was originally slated to hit theaters back in December 2007, but was delayed out of respect for "The Water Horse," another Walden Media production.

Despite "Prince Caspian"'s shortcomings, the third film in the "Narnia" series is currently looking at a May 7, 2010 release.
