I must admit, I was a little skeptical when I heard Matthew Fox would be playing Racer X in the upcoming Wachowski brothers big-screen, live-action effects fest Speed Racer. This video doesn\'t really relieve that skepticism, but it\'s helping me come around. Also, Harry Knowles has seen the Speed Racer trailer. Is it more \"holy fucking awesome\" or \"what the hell\"?
My reaction was \"what the hell?\" when I heard Fox was cast as Racer X. Not because I\'m a big fan of either him or the \'60s cartoon from which the film is adapted--I just can\'t picture him in this type of film. He has the look, but does he have the demeanor? The voice? Maybe, based on the clip: The Speed Racer trailer is \"HOLY FUCKING AWESOME DIPPED IN CHOCOLATE COATED PUSSY JUICE,\" or so says AICN\'s Harry Knowles, apparently praising it, though I might feel somewhat offended if someone described me that way. Knowles says: \"This is a quasi-toon universe where physics and the very nature of optics themselves are put in a shroom/lsd whirlpool of whatdafuck. It\'s Crrrrr AZEEEEEEE!\" Sounds interesting. Speed Racer is cruising toward a summer 2008 release. |
