In 1968 there was a National Democratic Convention in Chicago where activists were denied the right to protest, which eventually sparked riots in the streets. This of course resulted in a police state followed by a massive media circus. Director Brett Morgan (The Kid Stays In The Picture) has chosen to tackle the recreation of this story in a format reminiscent of Richard Linklater’s Waking Life.
Morgen uses archival footage and animation combined with a star studded voice cast to re-enact the trials of 8 protesters using actual transcripts. Chicago 10 stars include Hank Azaria, Dylan Baker, Nick Nolte, Mark Ruffalo, Roy Scheider, Liev Schreiber and Jeffrey Wright. Check out the first trailer for the flick below courtesy of Moviefone.
