A Clockwork Orange, angrily withdrawn from theatrical exhibition in Britain by director Stanley Kubrick when it was condemned by conservative church groups and pro-family activists in 1973, will be re-released uncut in the U.K.?next month, the Guardian newspaper reported today (Tuesday).?A spokeswoman for the British Board of Film Classification told the newspaper that the film will receive an 18 certificate, roughly the equivalent of an R rating.?She explained: "Despite the notoriety, the board does not consider that concerns expressed at the time of the film's original release about its possible influence on young people are a serious issue now.?The board is satisfied that the scenes of violence depicted in the film are acceptable under the board's guidelines."
