  They each have had hits (WB's Smallville, Girlmore Girls, Supernatural, Buffy; UPN's Veronica Mars and Top Model), but without the all-day, all-night programming capability like the big three have, the WB and UPN couldn't generate enough mojo to consistently float on into the future. So the two networks have announced they're becoming one. ?Enter, the CW (C for CBS because Viacom owns Paramount and CBS and they like CBS better I guess, and W for Warner Bros). ?The CW looks to debut this fall with combined programming from both of the old networks.Read the New York Times article about the merger.
