Be warned, this is an opinion piece: Robert Cailliau, the guy who designed the world wide web with Briton Tim Berners-Lee says all Internet users should be licensed so surfers on the information highway are as accountable as drivers on the road.?He also said, "We all accept that a car has number plates and a driver is registered somewhere...Why can't we apply these same principles to the Internet?'' There are so many reasons why we can't do this, but my favorite is because I have a nifty ability to use many multiple machines to access the internet at the same time, some of them functioning automatically for me.?If I could get that many cars to do the same thing for me, I'd probably run over OJ Simpson a second time.?That would also be kinda silly if you had to get a license to use a pay phone, which I don't see as being too different.
