Was he personable? ?Funny? ?Intelligent? ?Defensive? ?Did he harp on one point over and over and not seem to adjust to his opponent's surprisingly candid and unevasive responses?
Kerry's Web site called the debate a "decisive victory" for them, while W's Web site quickly (and somewhat defensively) pointed out that Kerry made several errors in his arguments. ?Of course, all one has to do is go to the source they cited to find out that Bush made quite a few errors himself. ?Nobody's perfect.
Meanwhile, calling the debate a "decisive win" is definitely overstating the case, as last night was the first time that this left-leaning voter saw any hint of life in John Kerry. He may have had a good debate, but he still has some ground to cover before he can start doing his victory dance, the Kerry shuffle. ?That said, I think Kerry seemed confident, knew what he was talking about (mostly) and was cool under pressure. ?Bush, on the other hand, seemed nervous, fumbly, and like he didn't have a damn clue. ?And most pathetic of all, he seemed defensive and always returned to the "flip flopper" argument, even though Kerry successfully countered it. ?For the first time since I have been able to vote I feel pretty good about the democratic nominee for president. ?Of course, it's all relative.
