SBC, the largest U.S.?local phone company, unveiled a $6 billion effort Monday (today?) to make it the top provider of high-speed access to the Internet.?After its recent $61 billion purchase of Ameritech Corp, SBC has a third of U.S.?phone access lines.?It looks like they plan on equipping everyone with DSL.?The prospects say 80%, or 77 million SBC customers by 2002.?I hope they're better than US West.?Read more... |
