SINGER On For SUPERMAN!!

Bryan Singer ("X-Men" films) has been signed to take over McG's spot behind the wheel of the new "Superman" film, according to Ain't it Cool News. ?McG was taken off the project last week amid disagreements regarding shooting location, casting, and budget.

AICN is reporting that their sources inside WB have confirmed that Singer is signed and that some of the more awful ideas that were developing during the McG reign have been tossed out, as well. ?Those include the script and the Superman "cybersuit" that had fans fuming.

Apparently Singer is calling the project "Superman Returns," though that is by no means an official title. ?As far as storyline is concerned, other AICN spies are reporting that the new script will likely tie in with the original "Superman" movies, but that it will probably not be an origin story.

Rumors are already flying regarding the status of Singer's other projects--"Logan's Run" and "X-Men 3," but no source seems to have a definitive answer. ?Some are reporting that Fox might go with a different director for "X3" and that "Logan's Run" is going to be scrapped completely. ?Others are reporting the opposite. ?Still others are sure that both projects are back on the drawing board pending further reworking. ?Either way, we can all be certain that "Superman," at least, will be a far better film that will be worth watching.

More "Superman" news as it develops.
