"Spider-Man 2" set new records on its opening day, bringing in $40.5 million. ?The fact that it costs $446 per ticket has nothing to do with it. ?$40.5 million is a new industry record for best opening day and a new record for best opening on a Wednesday. The previous record was set by the original "Spider-man" in 2002. ?Before that, movie tickets cost only $8, so no records were kept. The projected gross for "Spider-Man 2" is more than the GDP of many countries.
