DOOM optioned by Universal Pictures!

Universal pictures has optioned the popular video game Doom, according to several sources. ?Despite previous failed attempts to turn the game into a movie, this latest try may prove fruitful.

The producers have already signed Enda McCallion as director--a sure sign that they intend to make the movie. ?This will be McCallion's first film.

Doom 3 movie

The plot of the movie will likely resemble the plot of the upcoming ID Software and Activision game Doom 3, though a script has not yet been written. ?Doom 3 the game hits store shelves sometime this summer.

Warner Brothers lost their option on the Doom franchise earlier this year after they failed to act within the pre-determined 15 month period. ?At that time the rights were given back to id Software.

Prior to WB, the rights had been optioned by Universal and Columbia-Tristar. ?Neither company ever started development on the movie. ?Maybe the second time is the charm for Universal.
