THE LONGEST YARD all-star remake By Charley, (DT) May 31, 2004 6:41 PM PT

Peter Segal ("Anger Management," "Tommy Boy") is set to direct a remake of "The Longest Yard" starring Adam Sandler in the main role, with Burt Reynolds playing a coach. The original had Reynolds in the title role of an ex-quarterback turned inmate who is asked to form a prisoner football team to challenge the prison guards. ?As you can imagine, antics abound and more than one scrappy inmate denounces the idea of freedom in favor of the good life that being a football playing inmate allows. The remake also stars Chris Rock in the caretaker role. "The Longest Yard" remake should hit theatres sometime in 2005.
