DA VINCI CODE Film News!
By Charley, (DT)

Dan Brown's book centers on the Catholic Church's conspiracy to be rich, powerful, and unstoppable. ?Though much of the story is grounded in fact, it is widely acknowledged that Brown took creative license with the most sexy aspects of the book--the Da Vinci paintings' secret messages, for one.

That creative license has the potential to make for great cinema, however. ?With the right adaptation and crew making the movie, perhaps it can enjoy as much success as the book it is designed after. ?Howard, Grazer, and Goldsman are the producer, director, and screenwriter (respectively) from "A Beautiful Mind," the Oscar-winning movie about a brilliant but awkward cryptographer.

"The Da Vinci Code" should be familiar subject matter. ?Its main character is a brilliant symbologist who also knows his way around cryptography, but in a more "Indiana Jones" way. ?It's a good thing, too. ?That crazy Catholic Church will use any methods they can to stop the truth from being told--including using codes! ?Also deception and murder. ?But the story is only fiction, right? ?Right?
