TOTAL SURPRISE: Shreks 3 & 4 Greenlighted

Shreks 3 & 4 GreenlightedApparently immune to the "sequels curse" that has ruined other franchises both financially and professionally, Dreamworks has announced that they will be making two more Shrek films. ?That news comes on the heels of the $129 million that "Shrek 2" made in its first five days, a new record for the debut of an animated film.

The producers are still in talks with the main voice actors of the film and have not said whether or not the next sequels are contingent upon retaining the same cast. ?Surely the absence of Mike Meyers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and Antonio Banderas would not harm the potential success of the sequels in any way.

The success of "Shrek 2" was significant for Dreamworks as their last two animated films, "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" and "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas," were relative box office bombs.

Maybe big green guys are more entertaining, or maybe movie fans don't like the title formula "Main Character: Sentence Describing Main Character." ?To be on the safe side, Dreamworks may want to steer clear of that when naming their animated movies in the future.
