The Passion took in a whopping $23.6 million on it's opening day (Ash Wednesday), making it the biggest religious-themed movie opening since Charlton "gun-toting Republican" Heston's The Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur. Another excellent example of how controversy can be a great form of advertising. |
