Review: Jackass By SKillBot, (DT) October 29, 2002 11:58 AM PT

If you've seen the shows, you already have an idea of what this movie will be like. I'm sure you can imagine though, the big screen is able to take Jackass places it hasn't been before (mostly the butt). Yes, there's more man ass than at goatse.cx (note: visit that site at your own risk), but the physical humor balances nicely with the gross humor. Between the yellow snowcone and the use of Hippo Hardware's in-store toilets, there are plenty of gems such as the night pandas, the offroad tattoo, and the alligator tightrope. It's hard to get into details without spoiling anything, but feel content knowing that you're waling into a movie that cost $5 million to do things you could easily do at home, given a sufficient amount of stuff to destroy. Okay, so there's really a lot more to it than that. Some of the things they get to do with that budget enable a little enhancement on common household stupidity. A good deal of the movie is spent with these guys covered in makeup to look elderly and do their thing. They also spend a bit of time in Japan with their parade of personal male nakedness and injury prone fun. The night pandas segment was fun eough to entertain your grandmother while supporting all of the less commonly palatable undertones of the Jackass crew. Inspirational, menacingly hilarious, and straight-up disgusting, this movie is a great way to laugh at all the stupid things people could be doing. If only the stupid thing people usually do were only half this cool. Jackass, a movie for the good of the common man!
