Sally Jessy Raphael Gets the Boot By SKillBot, (DT) March 11, 2002 3:24 PM PT |
There's only so much of a good thing you can have before it gets old and doesn't continue to innovate and inspire those who come in contact with it. The only 5-minute parts of her show I ever saw were about the teens in boot camp, which was somewhat sickening. It was a ploy to boost her ratings that didn't go well with her strengths as a talk show host. And now she's done for. But she has a good attitude, or maybe it's another desparate ploy to get some attention. Quoth the Sally, "I am proud that we were able to help so many guests and viewers find solutions to their problems and comfort in their lives. I am also proud to have created the production formats that most talk shows now use." What format would that be? Finding people just like your viewing demographic to relate stories about their dumb lives in an "interview" format and asking for responses from the live audience? I'd hate to think of life without the talk show renaissance she has "created". It's an advent of daytime television nothing more. Crediting herself for this invention is just as absurd as Al Gore inventing the Internet. Good bye, SJR. I'm sure you'll be missed by those thousands of people who don't prefer the eight more popular talk shows out there. |
