Disney's Black Hoes

Walt Disney Co. has apologized for a promotion at one of its radio stations that distributed plastic gardening tools called "Black Hoes" as gag prizes to listeners and advertisers. Disney issued the apology Aug. 24 after black groups in Los Angeles called for a boycott against the entertainment giant. "The promotion could be viewed as offensive and derogatory," said Steven Bornstein, president of Disney's ABC division. "We sincerely apologize to our employees and anyone else for any offense that has been taken."
