Gothic Pictures is preparing to launch its first full-length feature film, Rachel's Attic.
"I'm nervous but excited", states David Tybor, Attic's writer/director, "early tests have been very good. ? Gothic Pictures, a new Independent Distributor believes that Rachel's Attic will be the next midnight phenomenon. ?"We executed a test screening in New York and Detroit and received an overwhelming positive response," states Gothic producer, Andrew Wilkins. ?Wilkins is speaking of the written replies that the screeners wrote down on the response cards. ?The majority responded that Rachel's Attic had the makings of a cult film. ?Hearing the same comments over and over, a light went off in the marketing division of Gothic Pictures. Essentially Gothic Pictures is planning to release Rachel's Attic only on Saturday's at Midnight in LA, Chicago, Detroit and New York. ?"We want to see how things play out," states Wilkins, "The only way you'll be able to see this film is if you stay up late and join the party." ? If things go well in the targeted cities, Gothic Pictures is planning to release Rachel's Attic nationwide. ? Rachel's Attic can be described as an edgy S&M thriller with a bite. ? Destined to be controversial, Attic makes no excuses about its disturbing content. ?The story revolves around Rachel who discovers that her estranged sister Emily is starring in an underground video where she is tortured and killed. ?Rachel further discovers that Emily was a dominatrix working at an unusual adult establishment called "The Playground". ?Descending into the underground world of pleasure and pain Rachel quickly becomes involved with "The Playground and finds herself on the killers hitlist. Shot on a modest independent budget, Rachel's Attic used talent from the Detroit Metro area with the exception of Gunnar Hansen, AKA, Leatherface from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. ?David Waszak owner of Northern F/X Productions, is a personal friend of Gunnar's. ?"I gave him a copy of David Tybor's script and he called back indicating that he liked the story and was interested in expanding his persona as the man with the chainsaw." ?In addition to securing Gunnar in the film, Waszak also produced over 30 special effects, which helped create a big budget appearance for the small indie film. Rachel's Attic will start its midnight run at the haunted "Vogue Theater" on Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA (2 blocks east of Mans Chinese Theater) beginning Friday the 13th, July 2001, at Midnight. ?"The Vogue Theater" has just recently re-opened and has been marked as one of the most actively haunted properties in LA. ?This statement was determined by (ISPR) "International Society of Paranormal Research". ? ISPR is respected throughout the world for its highly educated researchers and have worked with Scotland Yard and the FBI just to name a few clients. ? For further information about the ISPR you can contact Dr. Larry Montz at (323) 644-8866. The owner and manager of the Vogue theater is pretty interested to see what will happen when Rachel's Attic is projected at the witching hour. ?He's even indicated that if you feel the hairs on the back of your neck standing straight on edge it may be more than just a reaction from watching a scary movie. ?You never know what may be sitting next to you. Please visit rachelsattic.com for further information as well as a two-minute trailer. Rachel's Attic premiers at the Vogue Theater on Friday the 13th (of July 2001) at Midnight. ?Additionally, a second showing will be presented at Midnight on Saturday, July 14th. ?Any person over 17 wearing S & M attire will receive $1.50 off the price of admission. ? General tickets are $8.50. ? Although un-rated, due to its graphic nature, anyone under 17 will be turned away. For further information PLEASE CALL GOTHIC PICTURES @ (805) 495-4627 |
