Phantom Menace Goes DVD By Acheron, (DT) June 20, 2001 7:51 AM PT |
|
(E!) Much to the liking of Star Wars fans everywhere, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox announced Tuesday that Episode I will be released on DVD this fall. This will mark the first of the Star Wars saga to be released digitally.
"We're very excited about the added-value material," says Lucasfilm spokeswoman Lynn Hale. "We've got scenes newly created just for the DVD which were never completed for the film." The two-disc Phantom set is packed with six hours of bonus material, including several exclusive documentaries and never-before-seen-footage, as well as a running commentary--a first for a Lucas movie. The second disc will contain behind-the-scenes info on the making of Phantom, with mini-featurettes containing storyboards, animatics, the original theatrical trailers, TV spots and details on the movie's storyline, production design, costumes, visual effects and fight scenes. We have a date! On October 16, TPM will be on shelves with a price tag just under $30. |
