Terminator 3 Will Undergo Rewrite By Azad, (DT) June 20, 2001 6:43 PM PT |

According to news from the Popcorn UK web site, writing duo John Brancato and Michael Ferris have signed up to pen a rewrite to Terminator 3. The original script was written earlier by Ted Sarafian, and was thought to have Arnold Schwarzenegger's now famous T-800 cyborg battle against an evil female robot, believed to be able to shift shape and disappear altogether. And as in any movie in the making, there have been a lot of casting rumours. Since the project went into development last year, there has been a lot of speculation as to who would play the evil female cyborg. Earlier rumors indicated that perhaps Carrie Ann Moss (The Matrix) may take the role, but currently, press speculation has it that Famke Janssen (Goldeneye and X-Men) will be the new arch-nemesis. However, with a new script now being written, the film's entire premise could change entirely. Also, Vin Diesel (Pitch Black) has also been linked to the project, although when asked by Popcorn recently, the actor remained tight-lipped. Brancato and Ferris are best known for penning the script to David Fincher's 1997 thriller The Game and also the cyberthriller The Net. Once the dispute between the actors' union SAG and producers is resolved, Terminator 3 should be set to begin production. Both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Edward Furlong have agreed to reprise their roles, although no other casting has been announced. |
