Gladiator Sequel or Prequel Talks By Jack, (DT) June 18, 2001 12:40 PM PT |
The rumours started spreading way back in March that there would be either a sequel or prequel to Ridley Scott's five Oscar winner "Gladiator". ?However, Producer Douglas Wick has been evasive when questioned about the project, admitting that the idea of a prequel was there but refusing to comment on whether the wheels are yet in motion.
But now producer Doug Wick has confirmed to entertainment news site Popcorn that talks are underway to make a prequel or/and a sequel to the epic Oscar winner. No word yet whether or not Russell Crowe ? whose character Maximus died at the end of the first film ? will also return now that he's got a Best Actor Oscar, a bigger salary, and far more options before him. "We'd have to think very seriously about that, (Russell has) a lot of voltage on screen," Wick told Popcorn. There's also no word yet on whether original Gladiator director Ridley Scott will be involved in the follow-up. Read more at Popcorn.co.uk. Watch the interview with Doug Wick here. |
