Cuba Gooding Jr. To Be The Next James Bond?

(CARLTON) - While James Bond casting directing Debbie McWilliams believes that Russell Crowe would be the perfect replacement for current 007 Pierce Brosnan (she's really going out on a limb with that choice, eh?), one-time ladykiller and spy-slayer Roger Moore has his own opinions. And they're as quirky as the seven-time Bond star.

The 73-year-old actor tells Popcorn that he'd like to see Cuba Gooding Jr installed as the next 007, claiming it's about time there was a black James Bond. Gooding Jr won a best supporting actor for his work alongside Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire and was last seen surviving the brutality of Robert De Niro in Men Of Honor.

Moore's choice is just the latest name to be linked with the role of Bond, which will become available after Pierce Brosnan bows out next year in the as-yet-untitled 'Bond 20' . Despite remaining a tabloids' favourite, it's unlikely that Robbie Williams will be asked to star as Britain's king of espionage.
