Things Not Looking Good for Downey Jr.

As has been widely reported, Robert Downey Jr. has been in court for recent drug posession, violation of probation, etc., but this time a plea bargain doesn't seem to be likely for the recent Golden Globe and SAG award winner.

Riverside County, California, Superior Court Judge B.J. Bjork set a preliminary hearing date for April 30. Now, Downey faces a trial that, if he's convicted, could send him back to jail for more than four years. He was arrested last Thanksgiving weekend for alleged possession of cocaine and generic Valium in his hotel room.

So far the attempts to reach a plea bargain with prosecutors have failed. ?Whether he will have to return to jail is another matter.

Well I hope whatever the verdict, Downey Jr. will be able to finally kick his habit. ?If prison makes him depressed, as he has so claimed, maybe one more shot of it will help him realize that that's not where he wants to be, whatever the cost. ?If they do put him in jail, they need to send him to a forced drug rehab program, as I'm sure they will do. ?I for one, wish him luck on kicking the habit.
