Death On "Spider Man" Set By Acheron, (DT) March 7, 2001 6:25 AM PT |
|
(E!) A crew member was tragically killed in a construction mishap on the set of Sam Raimi's Spider Man in Los Angeles yesterday.
As the crew worked to replicate the top two floors of a 1930s-style building, a crane hauling a large metal cage (which contained a sign) suddenly toppled over on its side, according to a spokesman for the Downey Fire Department. The sign was meant to be placed atop the facade, which stood 20 feet above the ground. The falling crane smashed into a platform on which two welders were working. The swinging cage struck one of the two men in the head, killing him. The other welder escaped injury. The accident happened shortly before 9 a.m. PT. None of the cast was present at the time of the incident, as filming on that location isn't scheduled until later this month. |
