(EMPIRE) Al Pacino's set to star in Memento director Christopher Nolan's latest film, Insomnia, which is a remake of the 1997 Norweigan thriller of the same name.

Insomnia will star Pacino as a police detective who accidentally kills his partner while conducting a murder investigation in a small Alaskan town. Unwilling to face the consequences of his actions he finds himself blackmailed by the killer into pinning the crime on an innocent person.

As opposed to the original, this one will be in English.  It's got a $50 million budget, and is scheduled to start preliminary shooting in Vancouver in April.
