3d modelers looking for a cost effective nurbs based modeling package, with many of the advanced features of programs such as Alias|Wavefront should look into Rhinoceros from Robert McNeel and Associates. I've been interested in this program since they were releasing the free beta versions awhile back and recommend it to anyone looking for a good modeling program.
