The people have spoken. Their opinions were heard.. but not heeded. While most people voted Bruce Campbell or Eric Cartman in our poll asking who Should Replace David Duchovny opposite Gillian Anderson; It looks like FOX had another opinion.
Robert Patrick the man we all knew as the T-1000 from the Terminator movie has has landed the coveted role and inked in a multiyear deal to play Gillian Anderson's new partner on "The X-Files."
"X-Files" creator and exec producer Chris Carter said Patrick's character, FBI agent John Doggett, will be the virtual mirror opposite of Duchovny's alien-hunting, conspiracy-loving Fox Mulder.
"We thought about what we wanted to do, and we decided we didn't want to add something to the show we already had," Carter said in an interview with Daily Variety. "This guy is the consummate insider. He's a member of the FBI fraternity, a textbook guy."
FBI agent John Doggett is expected to team up with agent Dana Scully to help track down agent Fox Mulder who has been allegedly abducted by aliens.
While neither Carter, Duchovny nor Anderson are signed to work on "The X-Files." past the 2000-01 season, Carter hinted that Patrick's arrival could help extend "The X-Files." beyond its eighth season. "This is a great opportunity to go on," he said.
