Barking dog - Barking for excitement or frustration

Not all barking is related to anxiety. Some barking dogs do so because of frustration or even excitement. Sometimes the dogs can bark if he hears other dogs or the neighbor's dog barking. This barking is a sign of excitement.

The best method of stopping such a barking dog is to use the basic obedience training. Use regular commands to calm the dog and stop it from barking. If the dog continues with the barking, repeat the procedures until you achieve success.

Barking dog control - Anti-bark collars

The anti-bark collars are cruel punishment devices which give electric shock, emit ultrasonic sounds that irritate the barking dog, or even spray pungent citronella oil whenever the dog barks. This is never a very good choice for barking dog control. The barking is due to anxiety, fear, excitement, or even frustration.

So, such collars always act adversely and barking gets increased. If nothing works and there are no other options but to use an anti barking collar, please consult a certified applied animal behaviorist. He can provide you with certain tips to control a barking dog.
