Why rapport? That's because they know that once you get very comfortable with them, it would be less difficult on their part to negotiate their car dealership plan with you. And because you feel this guy wants to give the best deal as possible, you would be inclined to agree into signing the papers with them.

Too bad though, because by that time, it's even more difficult to see whether or not you are actually getting a good deal on the car that you are gonna buy eventually. You can tell that the car salesman is making this approach when you notice that he seems to agree with virtually everything that you say and like. It would even appear as coincidence that you and that salesman would share the same hobbies, the same likes. It's as if he fully understands you and shares the same idea with you.
