Circuit courts were first established in 18th century. Originally these courts acted as federal courts. Later they were both first instance courts and appeal courts. Later, their functions were overtaken by the district courts, the appeal courts and federal courts.

Today there are still circuit courts in some American states such as Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Virginia, Oregon, and a few more. The court proceedings of these courts -criminal and civil result in circuit court public records.

There are two ways to get circuit court records. One option is to go to the court and file a request. In this case you will need to know what type of record you are looking for, the name of the person, date of the event and where it had occurred. For instance if you need to find if someone has been divorced, you need to know in which state the divorce might have happened and approximately when.

A faster and easier way to search for circuit court records is over the Internet. The benefits of an online search are pretty obvious. You will not need to go anywhere which automatically will save you a lot of time and money. Also there is no need to have any extra information about the records you need to find -a name will be enough.
