What is a public police record?

Public police records as well as police arrest records are files of information regarding someone's criminal past. A public police record contains general information about a person as well as his criminal history. The general information includes the full name of the person, his address, race, gender, eye color, social security number. In some records data about properties and business will be included too. The criminal history part of any public police record will list all criminal deeds of the person in a chronological order. The word criminal here must be considered in its broader meaning of "law disobedience" because even the smallest noncompliance with law as speeding will be included.

What is a police arrest record?

A police arrest record term refers to that part of a police record that lists data about someone's arrests. In case a person committed a crime and arrest was ordered, the date of the arrest, the location as well as the reason for the arrest will be included in the police record.

Police public records can be obtained online by searching a crime public information database. Usually nothing but a name is required for a search to be performed. Keep in mind however that there are rules regarding public information use - you cannot use police records to stalk, harass, discriminate or harm others by any way.
