Old arrest records or new ones - you can view arrest records online and it is absolutely legal in the United States.

National arrest records keep information about anyone who did something against the law. Even the smallest thing like a speeding ticked is part of the public record file. The regulations regarding the type and the amount of information included in the national arrest records may differ from state to state but the most important dates and facts are always there. Apart from the arrest history, you can expect to find data regarding property transactions, sex offence, professional and business licenses information, court dockets. What you will not find is any medical information, as it is not considered public.

Past arrest records.

In the past all public records were in fact paper files kept in archives in local police stations, city halls, county halls or other premises of the local administration. Finding information was a real challenge.

Today you can access past arrest records online - the same way as you can access current ones. Some records may even contain a picture of the person. These photos are called mug shots and are the photos taken upon arrest. Each record contain past arrest records of the person, ordered chronologically. Even if a person had committed a crime 5 years ago, you will still be able to see that in their public file.
