I broke my Xbox 360 during a particularly intense gaming session over the past weekend. We were playing hard when suddenly something went wrong and everything just froze up. When I restarted it, nothing would come on any more. In most cases, when I broke my Xbox 360, it meant a straight trip back to Microsoft for my dear console but I decided not to panic.
I took a stepwise approach, figuring out the problem first, then searching for possible solutions. I stumbled upon a brilliant self-help guide and a while after I broke my Xbox 360, it was running again! I know that a lot of you, like me have broken their Xbox at some time or the other. In fact, I even broke my xbox controller a couple of times.
While you can do very little to prevent sheer bad luck, not panicking can save you time and money when it comes to getting your xbox back online. Even if I broke my Xbox 360 again, now I am confident I will be able to get it up and running if there aren't any major hardware damages.
Steps I took when my xbox 360 dvd drive broke and I broke my xbox controller
A sudden jerk was all it took when I broke my Xbox 360. The DVD was in the drive and the
console was on. I head a grinding noise and since then none of my DVD's would read.
Furthermore, the Gears of War DVD that was in the drive had a nice circular scratch on it after I broke my Xbox 360! Lesson learnt: Never disturb the Xbox 360 when it is on.
But what to do when the 360 isn't reading any DVD's at all? I found a fantastic help guide at Xbox360 fixer site which pointed me to a possibility that the top of the spindle head of my drive might have gotten stuck on the roof of the compartment.
This meant that none of the DVDs were spinning properly. Following their careful stepwise guide, I slowly slid out the DVD tray and found it to be exactly the case. Refastening the spindle with and adhesive got my disks spinning again! When I broke my controller for the umpteenth time out of frustration, the same guide offered me instructions to slowly put the thing back into one piece. And it actually worked when I broke my Xbox 360!
