One day everything seems to be working well on your console and the next you find the Xbox 360 screen black for some reason. In some cases the Xbox 360 screen is green. This can be really frustrating especially if you're already all hyped up to spend the weekend relaxing and playing games at home only to find that you're actually going to spend half your holiday trying to get the console fixed.
But before you decide to throw it away just because of the Xbox 360 screen glitch, why not try some basic troubleshooting steps first?

There are many reasons why your Xbox 360 screen turns green or black all of a sudden. First is that you may be trying to play a game that is supposed to be for an Original Xbox and not for the 360 console. Another factor is that you may be using a VGA HD AV Cable for your monitor or your television is on the PAL video standard settings.

One thing that is usually overlooked when it comes to troubleshooting 
issues with game consoles are the little details such as connections. The Xbox 360 screen is black probably because the cables are not properly connected to the monitor in the first place.
It's possible that the AV cable itself is causing the problem either it's already worn out, or it is improperly connected to the plugs on your monitor. The Xbox 360 screen turning black may just be a matter of making sure that everything is in their proper places and you have a disc inserted into your DVD drive.
Now once all these things are covered and your Xbox 360 screen is still green, or black, for that matter, you will probably need to move on to other troubleshooting steps.
