David Goyer Takes On THE FLASH! UPDATED!

David Goyer ("Blade: Trinity") will produce, write, and direct a feature film adaptation of "The Flash," according to Variety. ?According to the article, Goyer will work with WB again after writing the script for their upcoming "Batman Begins," which is due out next year.

The Flash first appeared in DC Comics in the late 1930's and has had varying success on both big and small screens ever since. ?Goyer thinks that the character, who can run faster than the speed of light, is perfect for a new adaptation.

Besides penning "Batman Begins," Goyer has had success writing comic book adaptations with the "Blade" series, whose latest installment was "Blade: Trinity," which he also directed.

UPDATE: Moviehole has posted an interview with David Goyer where he reveals who he would like to play Wally West in "The Flash": "I'm just writing it, but I would love to have Ryan [Reynolds] play Wally West."

In response to that news, Moviehole asked Ryan Reynolds how he felt about playing Wally West: "Wally West is a guy that likes to have a bit of fun in his life, he's a little bit sarcastic, a little bit acerbic, but I'd love to inject a little bit more heart into Wally. I think it'd be really cool."

And, apparently, Goyer has already discussed the role with Reynolds: " David explained the story to me--wow, Holy Shit. His rough story for The Flash is just fucking mind-boggling. I hesitate to say it's one of the best script stories I've heard for a long, long time. So yeah, if it were to come to fruition I'd be very excited."
