The problem with Hollywood today is that the studio heads are too chicken-$#!t to try something new.  This film may not be a remake in your eyes, but A) the story line, title, and characters have already been captured on celluloid. B) CATCF already has a fan base.  C) CATCF was originally a book therefore, a ?remake? - not an original script.

I have learned not to second-guess a Depp performance; no matter what role he creates.  He can be in one of my movies any day.  You can?t go wrong with a Burton-Depp-Elfman-Neill or Owen (makeup) combination.  Guys that make fun of the very talented AND beautiful tend to be lashing out because they are jealous.

And in conclusion:  THANK GOD IT?S NOT A MUSICAL!!!  Not that Depp could not pull it off, because I have all confidence in him, but I tend to squirm while a single thought is being repeatedly dragged out for 3 & ? minutes.
