Religion is for the weak, for those who do not have enough belief in themselves and what they can achieve. Its for those that refuse to take responsibility for their actions, its used as an excuse for many atrocities, genocide, torture, war, control of a population or people etc. Many, many bad things have occurred where religion has been a root cause, but many good things have also happened because of religion. Religion and politics have been intertwined for many hundreds of years, I believe that its time for religion and poiltics to seperate, politics will not disappear, not when there are so many different opinions held by people. But, religion has had its day, its time for humanity as a whole to grow up and take responsibility for itself, to leave religion behind, (as a child may leave the belief in santa claus, or the tooth fairy behind, when they reach adulthood, for example)its time to get rid of that which we do not need anymore. Its holding us back, we have to throw off the shackles of religion, to move forward and look to the future, there is progress to be made if we are brave enough...
