I believe we have seen several great films made by CGI and its development has been terrific. Toy Story, Shrek, Ice Age and some live action/CGI films have also been very successful. One in particular that i love and own is Casshern which is  a Japanese film based on a 70s anime. With effects like these, i believe it may be a better option to have the film done entirely through renders of CGI. The trouble with this idea though is it could take as much as 5 or 6 years to produce a great quality film. So i guess we are stuck with live action at the moment. I do think this movie would suck if it was just handed to Hollywood to do. Frankly the best films are the ones with mostly unkown casts. I think it would be better to hand it to the Japanese film industry as they would definitely have first hand experience in the field, and also in design and narrative.
