i think its sad how fomer hobbit smeagol killed his cousin deagol and took the ring so he became corrupted. I n the two towers you can see that smeagol did not want to betray the hobbits,especially frodo.In the book when he lead them to cirith ungol to shelob he looked at them sleeping and if sam and frodo could of seen him they would of seen a weary hobbit who has been taken away from friends and family way after his time and for a minute repented, then sam woke up and called him a sneak then his evil side overcame him again
