Man... you people are tossers.  Why cant everyone just give their opinion and not be verbally abused? (Assumeing that your comments arent just ignorant piddle).  I personally liked the Matrix but I wouldnt say that its the best and that its better than ALL Hong Kong movies, and Im an American!  I think being able to understand the culture and the style of acting and screenplay is important.  Most people like the Matrix as they should, it was a brilliant big budget flick.  But I think people will only think its the best if they can only understand or appreciate that type of commercial cinema.  No disrespect but all movies have something to offer.  I personally like HK movies because they are undoubtedly the originals where the ideas first came from and the Martial arts in those movies cant be replicated on Hollywood screens. Matrix is an old movie and it is kinda useless still comparing other movies to it.  I like them all... i dont care where its from but I like the originality and style of HK movies and the action is unbeatable, there are very few guns which make the action much more interesting.  I cant wait for the sequels to Matrix.  I just hope that they will be able to make the fight scenes a little bit more authentic by adding the asian influence.  That coupled with the big budgets and technology of Hollywood would make exciting viewing.  Even if the ONE was a flop I probably would still like it more than Matrix just cos its got Jet in it.  If you can appreciate his style and skill then it doesnt even matter what the movie is about.  Thats just my ignorant American opinion.
