Youre wrong about the male lead being Michael Biehn.  He was the co-star.  The male lead was Arnold, even though his role was more or less a supporting role.  Arnold did get top billing.  When Terminator hit theaters in late '84, Arnold was already a star.  You cant have possibly forgotten his star making turn in Conan the Barbarian back in '82.  That put him on the map.  He did another Conan move in summer '84, then the Terminator came out later that year.
