On the Star Wars website, there's a notice that Lucas is putting out another edition of Star Wars on VHS. This time the set is going to contain a whopping 10 minutes of Episode II footage along with interviews with George Lucas and "new and returning cast members" on how Episode II will fit into the saga. Now, I'm not one of the "anti-Lucas" fans yet, but this really doesn't help him score any high marks in my book. This is a simple case of getting as much money out of a franchise as humanly possible. If Lucas really wanted to get on people's good side, he'd release the same material/interviews on his website for free, letting his devoted fans know what's up. George, if you're reading, you know you're going to make a killing once Ep. II comes out. You know you're going to make a killing when Ep. III comes out, and you know you're going to make a killing when the DVDs come out, so why don't you sit back and save some of the decency that you still have left.
On another note, there's an unconfirmed rumour that Lucas is giving Kenny Baker and his tin can the axe. Apparently he's being replaced by a CG R2D2. The horror. The horror... |
